Hedgehog Cutter And Stamp Set

Price range: £5.50 through £10.50

This item is for a 3D printed cutter and stamp set for a hedgehog and one cutter to make the spikes. The hedgehog cutter is 16cm/6inches on its longest side. When we run this as a workshop we have the hedgehog base pre cut out for the customers (so that you only need to buy one set) and then they cut out their own spikes and attach them.

You can also purchase additional spike cutters so that each participant has their own.

This cutter is printed in PLA filament. This item is not food safe. The photo of the bisque item is for inspiration only, this listing is for the 3D printed cutter for you to make the bisque pieces yourself. The colour of your cutters may vary at any time and may be different from that shown in the photo.

Instructions to make a hedgehog…

  1. Roll out clay to 7mm thick
  2. Dust the hedgehog stamp and cutter with talc or cornflour
  3. Stamp in the design then use the cutter to cut out the hedgehog
  4. Roll out more clay to approx. 2-3mm thick
  5. Dust the spike cutter and cut out lots of spikes
  6. Score all over the body of the hedgehog and paint slip onto the score area
  7. Score the back of each spike and start attaching the spikes onto the body. We start from the top and work down the body but layer them however you’d like
  8. Smush the base of the spikes into the body so that they are firmly attached
  9. Don’t blend in all of the spike so that you can lift them slightly to create texture
  10. Form a ball of clay for the nose
  11. Score the nose area of the hedgehog and the base of the ball of clay and paint on slip
  12. Firm the nose in place and seal around the edge of the ball with a damp paintbrush
  13. Leave to dry completely before firing
