Bear Face Cutter and Stamp Set

£9.50

This item is for a 3D printed cutter and stamp set for a bear face. It is 16cm/6inches on its longest side.

We have designed this set for a children’s clay workshop, they make and paint in the same workshop and in the photos above we have used a Sgraffito technique to add interest.

The bear faces are then slumped into a bowl shape. They would also work really well as large hangers.

This cutter is printed in PLA filament. This item is not food safe. The photo of the bisque item is for inspiration only, this listing is for the 3D printed cutter for you to make the bisque pieces yourself. The colour of your cutters may vary at any time and may be different from that shown in the photo.

Instructions to make a scraffito bear…

  1. Roll out clay to 1cm thick
  2. Dust the stamp and cutter with talc or cornflour
  3. Stamp and cut out the bear face and neaten up the edges with a needle tool
  4. The scraffito technique works best on clay that has firmed up a little so leave for about half an hour
  5. Paint any small indented areas/lines, wiping away excess paint
  6. Paint onto a scrap piece of clay to practice your scraffito marks
  7. Flood the bear face design with paint. Flooding the area rather than brushing the paint ensures you get a strong and even coverage
  8. Practice some scraffito marks onto the painted scrap of clay, experimenting with different tools and designs
  9. Once you’re happy, start adding a design to the bear’s face
  10. Leave the bear to dry on a flat surface or slump into a paper bowl or dish to make a bowl/trinket dish
  11. Leave the bear to dry completely then bisque fire before glazing and firing again
