This item is for a 3D printed cutter and stamp set to make your very own large owl pot! Your finished owl pot will be around 18cm/7inches.

The cutters are also very useful for making little trinket dishes too… Just texture your clay, cut just one side of the owl, add details, and slump into a dish shape… ta-dah!

This cutter is printed in PLA filament. This item is not food safe. The photo of the bisque item is for inspiration only, this listing is for the 3D printed cutter for you to make the bisque pieces yourself. The colour of your cutters may vary at any time and may be different from that shown in the photo.

Description

This listing is for an item(s) that is printed with PLA filament using a 3D printer.  The photos alongside the main photo will show you bisque fired earthenware clay pieces made with the cutters / stamps and also some painted pieces for inspiration.  You will also find extra inspiration in our gallery.

This item is perfect for making your own bisque to sell in your PYOP studio, for use within a pottery studio, or for your own handicrafts…. the only limit is your imagination!

The colour of your cutters and stamps may vary from those shown in the photograph.

After use, rinse in cool water (never use hot water and do not soak) and dry immediately.  Store in a cool, dry place.

Instructions to make an owl pot…

  1. Roll out clay to 7mm thick then add any texture or design that you wish
  2. Dust your cutter set with talc or cornflour then cut out 2 body pieces, 2 eyes, 1 base, 1 beak and 2 wings
  3. Score the back of the eyes and beak and score on the ‘front’ body piece where you will attach them
  4. Paint slip onto the scored area and attach the eyes and beak, seal with a damp paintbrush
  5. Score the back of the wings and paint on slip. Score an area on the body where you will attach the wings, and firm in place
  6. Score the outer edge of the base piece
  7. Score the bottom of the inside of the front or back piece and paint on some slip
  8. Curve and firm onto the base and add a thin sausage of clay to blend the join
  9. Shape and curve this side of the owl slightly
  10. Repeat with the other side of the owl pot, start blending the sausage of clay from one end as you add the side, finishing from the top
  11. Add a thin sausage of clay where the 2 body pieces meet by adding a little bit of slip
  12. Smooth the sausage of clay into the join and blend into the wings and the base
  13. Use your fingers to push out the belly of the pot slightly
  14. Add 2 small balls of clay onto the top of the pot where the front and back pieces meet and smooth in to seal the joins
  15. Your owl pot is finished! Leave to dry completely before firing
