Octopus Legs Cutter

Description

This listing is for an item(s) that is printed with PLA filament using a 3D printer.  The photos alongside the main photo will show you bisque fired earthenware clay pieces made with the cutters / stamps and also some painted pieces for inspiration.  You will also find extra inspiration in our gallery.

This item is perfect for making your own bisque to sell in your PYOP studio, for use within a pottery studio, or for your own handicrafts…. the only limit is your imagination!

The colour of your cutters and stamps may vary from those shown in the photograph.

After use, rinse in cool water (never use hot water and do not soak) and dry immediately.  Store in a cool, dry place.

Instructions to make an octopus…

1. Roll out clay to approx. 1cm thick
2. Dust the cutter with talc or cornflour and cut out the octopus legs
3. Score down the length of each leg and paint on slip
4. Roll out 8 thick sausages of clay, about the length of the legs
5. Firm the sausages of clay in place onto the scored areas
6. Smooth out the sausages of clay into the base to create the shape of the legs. Start manipulating the shape of the legs as you want, adding movement, pointing the ends and lifting up the ends
7. Make a pinch pot from a ball of clay for the face of the octopus
8. Score and slip the middle of the legs base and the base of the face then firm in place
9. Cut out a tongue and roll out eyes and score and slip in place
10. Shape the face of the octopus however you’d like
11. Use the end of a paintbrush to create suckers under the tentacles of your octopus
12. Leave to dry completely before firing
