This cutter is printed in PLA filament. This item is not food safe. Description

This listing is for an item(s) that is printed with PLA filament using a 3D printer.  The photos alongside the main photo will show you bisque fired earthenware clay pieces made with the cutters / stamps and also some painted pieces for inspiration.  You will also find extra inspiration in our gallery.

This item is perfect for making your own bisque to sell in your PYOP studio, for use within a pottery studio, or for your own handicrafts…. the only limit is your imagination!

The colour of your cutters and stamps may vary from those shown in the photograph.

After use, rinse in cool water (never use hot water and do not soak) and dry immediately.  Store in a cool, dry place.

Instructions to make Elphabar’s hat…

  1. Roll out clay to 7mm thick
  2. Dust the cutters with talc or cornflour and cut out a circle and a cone shape
  3. Score the 2 straight edges of the cone piece and paint on slip
  4. Roll the straight edges in towards each other so that they butt together to make a cone
  5. Blend a thin sausage of clay over the seam on the inside and outside of the cone
  6. Gently flare out and soften the edge of the cone
  7. Score and paint slip around the base of the cone
  8. Poke a small hole in the centre of the circle
  9. Place the cone onto the circle and life back off to leave a ring of slip. Score the marked ring and paint on some slip
  10. Stick the cone into the centre of the circle
  11. Roll out a thin sausage of clay and wrap this around the cone where it meets the circle
  12. Blend the sausage into the bottom of the cone and the circle to secure the two pieces together and start shaping the hat
  13. Roll out more clay to approx. 1mm thick and cut out long ribbons with a needle tool
  14. Score 5 circle around the cone of the hat
  15. Score upwards around the hat to add texture
  16. Paint slip onto the lowest scored circle then attach one of the ribbons of clay, leaving the bottom edge of the ribbon loose so you can ruffle it up with a paintbrush
  17. Repeat this process to add ribbons of clay to all 5 scored circles, making sure you add slip before attaching the clay
  18. Shape the hat as you wish to add character
  19. Stamp and cut the ‘W’ monogram badge from some rolled out clay
  20. Score and slip the back of the ‘W’ badge and an the area on the hat where you will attach it
  21. Firm the ‘W’ badge in place
  22. Fettle all over with a damp paintbrush and leave to dry completely before firing
